  • Penggunaan peralatan perlindungan diri.

Utamakan keselamatan, bina masa depan.

Safety First, Building Future Professionals.

Safety and Health Induction Course for Construction Personnel: Empowering Future Professionals through the CIDB Green Card

On 20–21 June 2026, the Safety and Health Induction Course for Construction Personnel, also known as the CIDB Green Card Course, was successfully held at BK24, Block B1, Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia (UTHM), Parit Raja.

This programme was jointly organised by the Faculty of Technology Management and Business (FPTP), UTHM and the Akademi Binaan Malaysia Wilayah Selatan (ABMWS), under the coordination of the Competency Certificate Committee, Department of Construction Management, with me acting as the Coordinator.

Promoting Safety Awareness in the Construction Industry

The construction industry is one of the sectors with high occupational safety and health risks. Therefore, every individual who intends to enter and work in construction sites must understand safety procedures, recognise potential hazards, and take the necessary preventive measures.

Through this course, participants were exposed to important aspects such as:

  • The importance of occupational safety and health at construction sites
  • The responsibilities of construction personnel in ensuring a safe working environment
  • Hazard identification and risk awareness
  • The use of personal protective equipment (PPE)
  • Appropriate actions during accidents or emergencies
  • Safety regulations and best practices in the construction industry

CIDB Green Card as a Preparation for Industry Entry

Participation in the Safety and Health Induction Course is one of the essential requirements for obtaining the CIDB Construction Personnel Registration Card, more commonly known as the CIDB Green Card.

The CIDB Green Card serves as proof that a construction personnel has undergone basic safety training and understands their responsibilities while working on site. This exposure is especially important for students before they undergo industrial training or begin their careers in the construction sector.

Producing Competent and Competitive Graduates

This programme was carried out with several important objectives, namely:

  1. To increase awareness of occupational safety and health
  2. To fulfil competency requirements in the construction industry
  3. To prepare graduates who are competent, professional, and competitive

In addition to academic knowledge, graduates in the construction field must also be equipped with relevant competency certification and industry-oriented training. Initiatives such as this help bridge the gap between university learning and actual industry expectations.

Safety is a Shared Responsibility

Safety at construction sites is not solely the responsibility of employers or safety officers. Instead, safety is a shared responsibility of every individual involved in a construction project.

Through the implementation of this course, it is hoped that participants will continue to practise a safe, disciplined, and responsible work culture as they move forward into the professional world.

Prioritise safety, build the future.

Safety First, Building Future Professionals.
