PhD/Master Opportunity in Sustainable Construction and Environmental Infrastructure

Finding the right PhD/Master supervisor is one of the most important decisions in an academic journey. A good supervisor does not only guide research, but also helps students publish internationally and build a strong academic career.

I am currently welcoming motivated postgraduate students (Master by research and PhD) who are interested in Sustainable Construction and Environmental Infrastructure research.

Students who are passionate about research and willing to pursue self-funded postgraduate studies are highly encouraged to apply.

Research Areas

Prospective students may conduct research in several related areas within the built environment and construction sector, including:

  • Sustainable construction materials
  • Reuse of dredged sediments in civil engineering
  • Circular economy in construction
  • Environmental management of infrastructure projects
  • Construction management research analytics
  • Scientometric and bibliometric analysis of construction research
  • Outdoor thermal comfort in built environment

These topics are aligned with global sustainability challenges and are suitable for publication in international journals.

Publication-Oriented Supervision

Students under my supervision will be encouraged to produce high-quality research outputs and publish in international journals indexed in Web of Science and Scopus.

Some journals where related research has been published include:

  • Science of the Total Environment
  • Journal of Environmental Management
  • Journal of Cleaner Production
  • International Journal of Construction Management

Developing strong publications during postgraduate study is essential for those aiming for academic or research careers.

Suitable Academic Background

Applicants with the following backgrounds are encouraged to apply:

  • Construction Management
  • Civil Engineering
  • Environmental Engineering
  • Built Environment
  • Sustainability Studies

Candidates with related interdisciplinary backgrounds may also be considered.

Funding Information

Due to limited research funding available locally, most postgraduate students are expected to secure their own scholarship or funding source.

Examples include:

  • Government scholarships from the applicant’s home country
  • University or ministry scholarships
  • Industry sponsorship
  • Self-funded postgraduate study

Self-funded candidates who are highly motivated and committed to research publication are welcome.
